How does a session work?
We show you the basic stitches (stem, satin, knot) on a small sampler, then you move to your own motif. Thread, needle, hoop: you stitch quietly while time slows down. We come back regularly for a tip or a trickier stitch. In two hours, you leave with a piece embroidered by you, to gift or to keep.
Will someone actually help me?
Yes, and it's our favourite part. We grew up in artists' studios, so we share our best tips with you: the small moves that change everything, how to save a slip, when to stop. We explain everything when you arrive, then come by your table throughout the two hours. Everyone goes at their own pace, on their own idea, and we step in wherever you need us. The goal: you leave with something really beautiful, even if it's your very first time.
How much does it cost?
€27 for two hours, materials included. No membership, no card to buy: come once, pay on site. Drinks are extra, from the café menu. The only possible add-on is a bigger or fabric surface, and we offer it before you start.
Frequent questions
I've never embroidered, will it be okay?
Yes, we start from the basic stitches and it comes quickly. Embroidery is meditative and beginner-friendly.
What can I embroider?
A tote bag, a garment to customise, a small piece or a plushie. Bring your item or we provide one.
Do I need to bring materials?
No: thread, needles, hoop and fabric square are provided, all included in the price. Fancy embroidering a tee or a towel? Available on site, as an add-on. You can also bring your own fabric: jeans, a jacket, a tote.
Where can I take an embroidery class in Paris?
At Artichaut, 82 rue Lamarck in Montmartre (Paris 18th), Wednesday to Sunday. It isn't a group class where everyone stitches the same thing: you settle at your table, we show you the basic stitches (stem, satin, knot) on a small sampler, then you move to your own motif at your own pace. We come back throughout the two hours for a trickier stitch or a tangled thread. A session is €27, thread, needles, hoop and fabric included, no membership: come once, or every week if you love it. Book your arrival time online, or drop in if there's room.
Can I come with a friend or a group?
Yes. Everyone stitches their own motif at the same table, it's a lovely thing to do as a pair or with friends. For a group (birthday, hen party, team building), write to us through the private events page and we'll set up the space for you.
